WILLOW WATERS

Creating Emotion Through Use of Color

Susan Arneson is a self- taught artist in the Mission Valley. She does almost all of her work in watercolors, but also dabbles in multimedia, glass mosaics and the sewing of cork wallets. She is a signature member of the Montana Watercolor Society.

Susan grew up on a farm near the town of Willow City, North Dakota.  Inspired by parents & grandparents, she was a crafter, sewer and worked in oil & acrylics.  It  wasn’t until her move in 1989 to Montana that her interest in painting re-surfaced in the form of watercolors. Her art business “Willow Waters” comes from Sue’s roots in Willow City and her connection with the waters of Flathead Lake.   She grew up with a penchant for learning and a love of art and art objects appreciated for their craftsmanship. There is a generational tie of creating new things out of simple materials

“Creating Emotion Through Use of Color” is her mantra.  She considers colors to be emotional and the colors chosen express her emotions. Her experiences in the medical field & a vocational school have “colored” her life, both in the realm of life or death but also in the experiences and emotions of adolescents.  She has chosen her way through life, curious about the things that she sees, the emotions she feels or creates and the relationships among people.  She loves to learn and has been given the faith to see the good in her life and those of others. There are depths of color and emotion in all things.

Sue’s artwork can be seen at Sandpiper Art Gallery & Gifts on Main Street in Polson- sandpiperartgalleryandgifts.com and on her website:  willowwatercolors.com.  She also has a Willow Waters booth at the two art festivals in Polson in July & August. Visitors to her home studio are always welcome but it would be best to contact her at willowwatercolors@gmail.com or by phone at 406-253-8771 for a private showing.
